The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as National Open School (NOS) was established in November,1989 as an autonomous organisation in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. NIOS is providing a number of Vocational, Life Enrichment and community oriented courses besides General and Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary level. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its Open Basic Education Programmes (OBE).Government of India through a gazette notification vested NIOS with the authority to examine and certify learners registered with it upto pre degree level courses whether Academic, Technical or Vocational. Association of Indian Universities, vide letter No . EV/11(354)/91/ 25 July, 1991 issued Equivalence of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination of NIOS.

* Sr. Secondary 10+2 Level = 8th Months

NIOS, TUITION FEE STRUCTURE :

* Secondary 10th level = Rs 1,000.00 - INR / Per-Month ( Incl. of all taxes ) For 6th Months

  One Time Payment = Rs 5,000.00 - INR ( Incl. of all taxes ) 

* Sr. Secondary 10+2 Level = Rs 1,500.00 - INR / Per-Month ( Incl. of all taxes ) For 8th Months

  One Time Payment = Rs 8,000.00 - INR ( Incl. of all taxes )

Group A: Secondary Course offers a choice of seventeen languages i.e English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Nepali, Assamese, Marathi, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Oriya, Arabic, Persian and Tamil.

Group B: Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Home Science, Data Entry Operations, Psychology, Indian Culture and Heritage and Painting.

For Certification, a minimum of five subjects including atleast one language or atmost two languages are compulsary. This course is equivalent to the Xth Standard.

NOTE : A minimum of five subjects including atleast one language or atmost 2 languages are compulsary for Certification.
