Fastag: what you should know

We travel a lot to other cities, either for weddings or work travels. These travels earlier used to be convenient only till we reached the toll booth, then we would hear horns and yells from other drivers who also want to pay the toll tax. But since our government has issued fastag, paying our toll has become much easier and convenient.

And like any other thing our government has issued in the public interest, we must be fully aware of it, otherwise, we won’t be able to get full benefits from it, or the registration for such benefits will become more complex.

All of us must get our fastag issued without delay; otherwise, we will have to pay double toll tax, that’s why today we will tell you everything you need to know about Fastag so that you can get yours without any trouble and you also don’t stay silent in a discussion about it.

What is fastag?

Fastag was introduced by our government in October 2017 to make it convenient for us to pay our toll tax. It is an RFID issued by our ministry of road transport and highway.

Before fastag was issued, approximately Rs 12000 crores were leaked at toll booths across our country, but that was not all, fuel wastage at toll booths and exhaustion of human resources was also a major concern along with air pollution. Our toll plazas contributed a lot to air pollution, but with the issue of FASTag, all these problems were solved.

How does it work?

Fastag works similarly to other RFID technologies, a RFID-enabled sticker on the car’s windshield s scanned by a reader at the toll booth. This processes the payment automatically and wirelessly. You just have to slow down your car at the toll booth so that the reader can easily scan your fastag.

A moving fastag card can be scanned and the payment will automatically deduct for your convenience, but your card needs to be linked to a digital wallet or savings account to make sure that the payment is successful.

How to obtain a fastag card?

Now that you know what a fastag card is and how it does work, let us know how you can obtain one for yourself since it is compulsory for you to get a fastag card now. You can obtain a fastag card by using various ways.

Depending on where you bought it from, it can either be linked directly to your bank account or a prepaid account that you need to regularly recharge. You can Recharge FASTag Online from fastagpro.
